Hume & Hovell Ultra

The Hume & Hovell Ultra is an ultra marathon conducted along part of the Hume & Hovell Walking Track.

The walking track follows as closely as possible the historic route taken by Explorers Hume & Hovell on their 1824 expedition to Port Phillip Bay. The track is managed by Department of Primary Industries from the Wagga Wagga office. The walking track starts at Cooma Cottage near Yass and finishes at the Hovell Tree in Albury, some 440 km in length.

The Start and finish is at Henry Angel Trackhead, some 9km south from Tumbarumba on the Tooma Road. The track is a mixture of constructed walking track and fire trails. The highest point is over 1200 metres in elevation, with many scenic natural attraction along the course including Buddong Falls, Paddys River Dam, alpine snow gums, and Mannus Lake.

The event is being organised by members of Wagga Wagga Road Runners. Event Director Peter Fitzpatrick is an accomplished distance runner for many years. The event is supported by the Australian Ultra Runners Association Inc (AURA).
